The valley is located 3 km from the sea, the Gulf of Trieste, and climbs steeply to the north-west to the wall of the Karst limestone up to 400 meters. North-east towards the foothills marly "white lands" of Istria. The valley is shaped like a funnel .Wide open over the sea, and close up towards the karst hills. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, which is affected by a significant exchange of air, mistral and bora and a significant day-night temperature swing. The soil is mixed: on the side of karst limestone, clay and marl-white lands on the opposite side. In the central part of the valley the soil is mixed. The vineyards are worked in a organic way, they are planted with indigenous grass species and conducted without irrigation.

The wines are made in a traditional way with natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and long maturation on yeast, they are not filtred with very low use of sulphites.

Varieties: Malvasia (Istrian) and Refosco (Istrian), Yellow Muscat Hrastovlje biotype.

A part of the vineyards of Malvasia is ungrafted.

We produce two labels:

- white label ... the  wine is made in steel tanks, vineyards from 25-35 years

- black label ... the wine is made in oak barrels, vineyards over 50 years


-Malvasia istrian 100%, white label 2015 ... vineyard 25-35 years, 24 hours of maceration (skin contact), natural fermentation in steel tanks, also natural malolactic fermentation, affination on lees for 10 months          

-Refosk, white label 2012 ...vineyards arround 30 years, 15 days maceration, natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel tanks, affination on lees for 12 months.

- Cuvee 2013 ... vineyards 25-35 years, 3 days of maceration, natural fermentation in steel tanks, also natural malolactic fermentation, affination on lees for 10 months, affination in oak barrels… Malvasia Istriana, Pinot griggio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon    

-Refosk, black label 2009 ...vineyards over 50 years, 30 days maceration, natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, affination on lees in oak barrels for 36 months  

-Malvasia istrian 100%, black label 2013 ...vineyards over 50 years, 7 days maceration, natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, affination on lees in oak barrels  for 30 months
